Biography

Sheikh Raed Salah is a Palestinian Islamic leader and the most prominent figure of the Islamic Movement among Palestinian citizens of Israel, known above all for mobilizing mass attention to the defense of the al-Aqsa Mosque. Born in 1958 in Umm al-Fahm, a town straddling the Green Line, he studied Islamic law at Hebron University before becoming a religious and community organizer in his home region.
